Sony Ericsson Xperia ray

has unveiled a trio of new devices, including a pair of Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphones and a QWERTY featurephone for the messaging-obsessed. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA ray looks a whole lot like the X10, but is considerably smaller, Crave reports, with a 3.3-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen, 9.4mm thick chassis and 100g weight.

It still has room for an 8.1-megapixel camera, however, and Sony Ericsson splashes on their custom UI (with, we’re assuming, Facebook Inside XPERIA integration). It’ll arrive in Q3 2011, in a choice of black, pink, gold or white.

Then there’s the Sony Ericsson XPERIA active, and as the name suggests it’s all about sporty types who worry about accidentally dunking their phone in water or getting it sweaty. The 3-inch scratch-resistant display runs at 320 x 480 resolution but can apparently be more easily controlled with wet fingers – fingers that may have been dampened as you retrieve the XPERIA active from the 1m deep water it can survive being submerged in for up to 30 minutes. It’s dustproof as well (though we guess the water would’ve washed that off already) and has GPS and Bluetooth along with a barometer. It too will arrive in Q3 2011.

Finally, there’s the Sony Ericsson txt, a non-sliding version of the QWERTY txt pro outed last month. A keyboard-encrusted candybar, it has a 2.6-inch display and borrows the Android UI though runs it on a featurephone OS. It’ll drop in Q4 2011.
